Prof. Dr. Nuran Fazlioglu-Adal
Professional & Academic Experience
Prof. Dr. Nuran Fazlioglu-Adal is Professor of International Business with a focus on Accounting and Controlling at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW Hamburg). Her teaching and academic interests include financial and management accounting, international controlling, digital transformation in accounting, and strategic and sustainability controlling.
Before joining academia, she gained more than 20 years of international professional experience at the intersection of finance, controlling, information systems and digital transformation. Her career began at SAP, first as an SAP CO Consultant and later as a software developer at SAP in Germany. She subsequently held senior consulting, solution design and leadership roles with international companies, including Siemens, British American Tobacco and Olympus, as well as working independently as a senior SAP consultant and project manager. Her work focused particularly on SAP Controlling (CO), Business Intelligence (BI), finance processes, enterprise systems and the design and implementation of international SAP solutions.
Drawing on this extensive industry experience, she places particular emphasis on connecting academic concepts with real-world business practice. Her teaching integrates case studies, digital tools, business simulations and project-based learning, complemented by collaboration with companies and industry experts. A particular focus is on how digital technologies are transforming the role of accounting and controlling in organisations.
She holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Marmara University, an M.Sc. in Information Systems from Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences, and a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from Yıldız Technical University. Her interdisciplinary background in business administration, information systems and engineering reflects the combination of business and technology that has shaped both her professional and academic career.
